During the October 6, 2007 show by e-mail and on the air listeners voted for the following for their likes and dislikes of Franklin County:
Listeners Most Favorite Things:
1. How the community rallies in support of those in need.
2. Strong church connections and close-knit communities.
3. A progressive public school system.
4. Old country stores and family run businesses.
5. Good people willing to run for public office, just not enough of them.
6. Thriving organizations like Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 4-H, Boys & Girls Club
and Parks and Recreation.
7. Diligent public service agencies-particularly the Sheriff's Office, local
police departments, fire and rescue departments, both paid and volunteer.

8 1/2 The Franklin Times' willingness to go the extra mile to investigate and
report stories that affect resident in municipalities and under county
government.
9. Whit Hayes' barber shop on Hwy. 581--seven bucks gets you a haircut and the
world according to Whit.
10. SOME of our elected officials who are willing to question taxation and
spending.
Listeners Least Favorite Things:
1. High taxes.
2. Wasteful spending.
3. Elected officials who think they are above the law.

residents.
5. The overall political "warfare" between county Republicans and Democrats--it
stands in the way of getting anything accomplished on behalf of Franklin County
residents.
6. Not all Franklin County residents are open to "outsiders." Some feel local
residents pat newcomers on the back with one hand, and stab them in the back
with the other.
7. The growing population of illegal immigrants.
8. Bad drivers....and even worse roads.
9. The number of people who feel free to litter our roads, highways and
communities.
10. Elected officials who look out for Raleigh's interests, but not Franklin
County's.
